In commemoration of National Sickle Cell Awareness month, the Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc – Sigma Xi Chapter, in partnership with the MLK Jettie Rhodes Neighborhood Day Committee and the CU Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., wish to invite our community members out to give a blood donation at the Impact Life – CU Donor Center or during a mobile blood drive taking place that designated week.

The purpose of the Memorial Blood Drive is:

– to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation. Each unit can help save a life.

– to celebrate National Sickle Cell Awareness month by focusing the specific needs to increase the number of African American donors for Sickle Cell patients,

– to host a successful program collaboration within the Champaign-Urbana community and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign community;

– to commemorate the lives and work of Jettie Rhodes in honor of her legacy of exemplary service in the CU community and Bro. Charles R. Drew in honor of his ground-breaking and life-saving work in the field of blood banking
